Table Manners

Character Strengths

Our character defines how we view others. Our character strengths portrays our Godly relationship and commitment to God’s word and His son, our Lord Jesus. Some believe that our character is our “morality,” the “how” we relate and grow in our relationships, our ability to serve others with the talents and gifts we have been uniquely given from our Creator. For many… our character strengths are the gifts that flow from God’s love to us and through us.

Table Manners… Why are they important?

Around the table today ask each person why table manners matter? If our actions speak louder than words… then what do our table manners say about us and our respect towards others?

Next discuss a time when your parent or grandparent gave you “the look” that said you needed to stop and be mindful of “being in public.” *Let everyone share without interruptions, explain that listeners respect those sharing by making eye contact!

Finally, share one table manner that you would like to practice for seven days (let them know that they can support you with a gentle reminder because learning a new habit takes support). *Let everyone choose their “7 day” manner changer.

Closure: Take the opportunity to hold hands and lead a prayer asking our Lord for His strength while we practice these new manners.

“Building character is a seed that will grow into a beautiful representation of whose we are.”
