
- Today’s reading investigation: Riddles are meant for giggles… especially around a campfire?
- Family Sharing: Invite everyone to share which riddle they like the best.
- Materials: family learning journals/paper, pencils, colored pencils, and/or crayons
- Remind them to open their journals to the next available page and date it. Don’t forget to have them label the top of the page with today’s learning topic/skill.
- Guided enquiry: “For today’s literacy practice, you will choose 3 of the riddles to rewrite into your journal.
- Next: Allow everyone 10-15 minutes to put their thoughts on paper. *Invite them to sketch a silly doodle for each riddle.
- Finally: Guide them to create their own silly riddle for this evenings campfire “Riddle Me This.” *Even if you don’t have a backyard fire pit… get 2-3 flashlights and build a camp site in your family room. Turn off the lights… have fun! You can make some great treats to share.
- Skill Discussion: “Let’s share what you’ve penned!” Encourage everyone to share… including your youngest.
