Making the family connection: Discuss: “Silly Summer Haiku topics”
Materials: family learning journals/paper, pencils, colored pencils, and/or crayons
Remind them to open their journals to the next available page and date it. Don’t forget to have them label the top of the page with today’s learning topic/skill.
Today’s literary connection: 3 Silly Summer Haikus. Guided enquiry:*Guide each of your learners in writing and illustrating 3 silly Haikus (Space Lobsters; In my satchel…; A poem to my pet). Encourage them to create each poem, as well as illustrating each poem with colored doodles.
Next:Have a summer time poetry night around an inside/outside camp fire.
