Reading Investigations: Summer Memories

Journal an entry for worm or fly or spider!
  • Family Sharing: Invite everyone to share the slide above. Discuss how illustrations help to guide your comprehension while you are reading?
  • Materials: family learning journals/paper, pencils, colored pencils, and/or crayons
  • Remind them to open their journals to the next available page and date it. Don’t forget to have them label the top of the page with today’s learning topic/skill.
  • Guided enquiry: Read and discuss the learning targets for today’s reading investigations.
What do you notice?
  • Next: Allow everyone 10-15 minutes to put their thoughts on paper about their learning targets.
  • Finally: Invite everyone to draft a letter from worm to spider or fly about his experience. Remind them to create their sketches of worm’s diary entry.
