- Today’s kitchen math discussion: “What do you notice?”
- Next Inquiry: “What don’t you know?”
- Investigation: Materials: paper/pencils/colored pencils/crayons or family learning journals (back of journal). Remind them to turn to the next available page and date it. Ask them to write the name for today’s kitchen math.
- Inquire: “How would you re-create this recipe?”; “What ingredients do you see?”; “What if there are other ingredients we don’t notice?” *Let them have 5-6 minutes to draft their thoughts (without talking). When they are finished, have them share how they came to their conclusions.

- Next Inquiry: “What didn’t we know?” Ask them if having the list of ingredients makes a difference in what they first drafted as a recipe.
- Kitchen Lab: Discuss: “What type should we add to a shopping list that would help us make this recipe? *Invite them to investigate what is in the pantry and what they would need on their shopping list. “Let’s investigate… let’s go shopping!”
