Reading Reflections: Valentine Reading Fun!

What do you notice?
  • Today’s reading investigation: Reading for Fun!
  • Family Sharing: Riddles, Adlibs, Emoji Codes… How do you use your reading skills for these fun activities?” *Invite everyone to share.
  • Materials: family learning journals/paper, pencils, colored pencils, and/or crayons
  • Remind them to open their journals to the next available page and date it. Don’t forget to have them label the top of the page with today’s learning topic/skill.
  • Guided enquiry: Discuss what is the difference between reading a book and reading these activities? Invite them to compare and contrast the differences they notice between reading for fun and reading a book/novel during their reading instruction.
  • Next: Allow everyone 10-15 minutes to put their thoughts on paper.
  • Skill Discussion: “Let’s share what you’ve penned! Encourage everyone to share… including your youngest.
