
- Today’s reading investigation: What is a Legend?
- Family Sharing: “ Which Legends have you heard?” *Invite everyone to share. Discuss which legends you would choose to re-read, to tell, or to check out from FVRL (Fort Vancouver Regional library)? *EPIC has Legends… link pw: tvg4377
- Materials: family learning journals/paper, pencils, colored pencils, and/or crayons. Remind them to open their journals to the next available page and date it. Don’t forget to have them label the top of the page with today’s learning topic/skill.
- Guided enquiry: Draft a paragraph describing a legend that they have heard (4-5 sentences), include an image of the “hero” in the legend (Paul Bunyan). *Invite your younger learners to draw a picture from the slide above and dictate their version of the legend.
- Next: Allow everyone 10-15 minutes to put their thoughts on paper about
- Skill Discussion: “Let’s share what you’ve penned!” Encourage everyone to share… including your youngest.
