- Today’s reading investigation: Dragon Fantasy/Myths -or- Dinosaur Facts?
- Family Sharing: *Invite everyone to share what they know and what might they learn.
- Materials: family learning journals/paper, pencils, colored pencils, and/or crayons. Remind them to open their journals to the next available page and date it. Don’t forget to have them label the top of the page with today’s learning topic/skill.
- Guided enquiry: “Today you will fill in the Venn diagram, from the slide above, as your learning template.” *Re-create the Venn circles for your youngest learners. Encourage them to sketch a dragon and then the dinosaur in one of the circles. Invite an older learner to draft their thoughts about how dragons and dinosaurs might be the same.
- Next: Allow everyone 10-15 minutes to draft their thoughts on paper about dragons, dinosaurs, as well as the areas that they are the same.
- Skill Discussion: “Let’s share what you’ve penned!” Encourage everyone to share… including your youngest. Spend a few moments sharing what your Venn diagram would look like. Include which animal you read books about, as well as which animal continues to be your favorite.
