What do you know our about our US Presidents?
  • Today’s reading investigation: President match… What were they known for?
  • Family Sharing: “ Who are these Presidents?” *Invite everyone to share. Discuss which type of books would you need to choose to discover more about US Presidents? *United States “President” biographies are located in school/public libraries in a biography section with the “B_ _ _” call numbers (JB-WAS) or as a collection of information for all US Presidents “FVRL“ using the Dewey Decimal: J973.099.
  • Materials: family learning journals/paper, pencils, colored pencils, and/or crayons. Remind them to open their journals to the next available page and date it. Don’t forget to have them label the top of the page with today’s learning topic: US Presidents.
  • Guided enquiry: “Which president would you like to know more about?” “Why?”
  • Next: Allow everyone 10-15 minutes to put their thoughts on paper about their choice.
  • Skill Discussion: “Let’s share what you’ve penned!” Encourage everyone to share… including your youngest. Spend a few moments sharing how you made choices when you were their age.
